विलुप्त हो चुकी हैं। इन विलुप्त हो चुकी प्रजातियों में पैसेंजर पिजन (Passenger Pigeon) और आइवरी-बिल्ड वुडपेकर (Ivory-billed Woodpecker) शामिल हैं, जिन्हें
हम ब्लैक एंड वाइट तस्वीरों में देख सकते हैं। इन पक्षियों का विलुप्त होना भले ही
अतीत की बात है, लेकिन मौजूदा पक्षी प्रजातियों के लिए खतरा अभी टला नहीं
है। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि सभी ज्ञात पक्षी प्रजातियों के लगभग आठवें हिस्से जिनकी
